Essaouira is a city located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, known for its strong winds, which make it a popular destination for windsurfing. The city is located about 2 hours west of Marrakech and is known for its laid-back atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The most popular spot for windsurfing in Essaouira is at the beach of Sidi Kaouki, which is located about 20 kilometers south of the city. The beach has a wide, sandy shoreline and consistently strong winds, making it a great place to learn how to windsurf or to practise more advanced techniques.we offer lessons and rent equipment, so it's easy to get started even if you're a beginner. In addition to windsurfing, Essaouira is also a great place for kitesurfing, surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
A waterstart course is a type of training program designed to teach people how to do a "waterstart" in windsurfing. A waterstart is a technique that allows a windsurfer to get up on their board and start sailing while they are still in the water, rather than starting from the beach or a dock. Learning how to do a waterstart is an important skill for windsurfers to master, as it allows them to get back on their board after falling off or to start sailing from a deeper area of water.
There are several key steps involved in performing a waterstart:
1. Position yourself next to your windsurf board with the sail facing the wind.
2. Hold onto the mast base and push down on the tail of the board to get it to rise out of the water.
3. Once the board is partially out of the water, swing your back foot onto the tail of the board and push off the water with your front foot.
4. As you start to rise out of the water, grab the boom with your front hand and use it to pull yourself up onto the board.
5. Adjust the sail to catch the wind and start sailing.
Our waterstart course will typically cover these steps in more detail and provide hands-on practice and instruction to help students master the technique.
